Flames and Fire

Flames and Fire explores an interest in the complex rhythms of flamenco dance and especially the passion and vigorous force of the movement. It was the sheer physicality of the stamping and hand gestures that caught my interest in this form of folk dance and the long history and mystery of its origins. Here the dancer’s steps are slowed down to a mnemonic pattern, accompanied by a hovering harmonic texture that offers up a sensuality and rich beauty to accompany them.
