April 1999

Strom Twelve.

Hello.
An infrequent update on my movements and future possibilites as irregular as usual, guided more by a chance to write than a lack of desire.

My record label Sulphur kicked off to a fine start with Future Pilot Versus a Galaxy of Sound double CD/LP in early April, starring the likes of Alan Vega/Suicide, Brix Smith of the Fall, Cornershop and Andrew Weatherall amongst many other super names. Next album release will be my first studio album in over two years, entitled Lauwarm Instrumentals. possibly the most elegiac and personal of all my releases in a sense it will be out on July 5th 1999.

Just written the soundtrack to Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream to be broadcast and commercially released by the BBC radio in September which meant I spent several weeks living in the sixteenth century (the food was rough but I loved the clothes!), then added textures and treatments to another BBC Radio 3 play entitled Fugitive Pieces based on an amazing novel by Canadian writer Anne Michaels which was broadcast over Easter.

Been a great year so far in terms of released music i have heard and live shows – london has been spoilt recently by a wealth of artists playing here and reason enough for me to feel exhausted : to rococo rot, console, kreidler, atr, plastikman, barry adamson, nick cave, rhys chatham, pan sonic, pole and so many more.

As always I am always keen to receive any recordings that anyone might find suitable for the label, just send them to the office address below. and if you do not wish to receive this infrequent mailing simply let me know.

Thanks for all your support you have given me and I will endeavour to keep in touch, time table permitting.

All the best

Robin Rimbaud
