March 2001

Strom Twenty Three.

Hello

Almost freshly returned from the West Coast, just missing the earthquake areas and played a fine show with Carsten Nicolai at SFMOMA as part of the opening ceremony of Art in Technological Times. We recorded the piece and are editing it for a very swift CD release in conjunction with the Museum so watch out for that soon.

Any listeners in the UK should if they can check out the Outsider Music event as part of the Only Connect series at the Barbican where an evening of self taught obsessives and eccentrics will be presenting their work. Featuring works by iconic painter Joe Coleman with music by The Delgadoes and the disturbingly perverse art of Henry Darger with a Harry Partch soundtrack, it looks set to be an intriguing night on 22 March 2001. That same week I shall be presenting one of my BBC Radio 4 ‘Front Row’ micro documentaries on this very subject so tune in one evening and have a listen world wide.

For an evening comedy session be sure to listen to my Outsight Radio Hours Webcast on Sunday April 8 promptly at at 19.00 EST where I will be answering questions live and you can participate if you wish at:
http://www.detroitmusic.com/outsight/orh.shtml

My ‘Scannerfunk’ CD has just come out in the USA and Canada which as I warned before will be followed by some live dates across the states in the summer. Music to drive small silver mechanicals toys to.

The scannerdot.com website now has downloadable MP3s as well as countless other uninformative pages to twist and turn the imagination. I will be updating the files every month or so so keep tuned in. Many rare and unreleased recordings will be made available in this manner and feel free to share them.

Not so many live dates this month but a lot of travelling towards other projects through Sweden, Rome, New York City and Spain in the next few weeks so my suitcase remains my constant companion.

Best wishes

Robin
